Aid panel- 'Is all aid dead?' (1000-1115)
The panel will look at the various approaches to aid, from large-scale fiscal transfers to microfinance, and analyse the relative merits of these approaches. The discussion will tackle questions such as the extent to which corruption can hinder the effectiveness of large-scale fiscal aid, whether foreign-led international development ventures are better or worse for a country than locally-run projects, and whether the best approach to development may vary from country to country. The panel will be chaired by Patrycja Stys, a doctoral candidate at the Department of Politics and International Relations at Nuffield College, Oxford.
