Introduction to International Development 2011

Hosted by OxFID, this conference provides a great introduction to the basics of International Development for those who are new to it, and in 2011 had the focus:

Young, Educated - and Powerless? How young people can contribute to the fight against global poverty

2011's conference explored how young people can contribute to shaping the current discourse on international development. It brought together practitioners, academics, policy makers and influential young people to discuss what roles can be played and how the individual can take part in addressing the biggest challenge of our time.

This IID was be held on the 12th November at Wadham College

A Note from Sir Neil Chalmers, Warden of Wadham

The fight against global poverty is of profound importance, and young people have a critically important role to play in this fight.  I am delighted that the IID conference for 2011 is tackling this issue head on, and it gives me special pleasure that the conference will be taking place at Wadham College.  I hope that the Conference will not only be a stimulating and enjoyable event, but that it will also encourage many of those who attend to take further action to combat global poverty.
