Oxford Forum for International Development
The Oxford Forum for International Development (OxFID) is the UK's highest profile student-led conference, bringing together practitioners, academics and professionals from across the world to discuss international development issues, attracts over 400 participants from the UK and beyond, bringing together the decision makers of today with the decision makers of tomorrow.
This year, for OxFID’s 5th Anniversary, the conference will ask: Where Next? Finding New Paths and Shaping New Visions Engaging with the foremost questions of development in the 21st century including: What Role does Internet Civil Society have? How do New Technologies affect Conflict? What about Agriculture? Can Humanitarian Aid Prolong Wars? How have the International Community failed to prevent Famine? How connected are Human Rights Law and Development? Does our era demand a New Economics for Development? Is Private Business Initiative the only way forward? What are India and China’s emerging Roles for Development? What is the Climate for Peaceful Development post-Arab Spring? How Realistic were the UN’s Millennium Development Goals? And what happens after 2015?

| A full weekend of keynotes, panels and workshops discussing and evaluating the new directions, challenges and solutions which are currently emerging in the field, with speakers such as acclaimed author Linda Polman, Human Rights Legal Expert Geoffrey Robertson QC, Chair of PZ Cussons and Patron of Concern Universal Richard Harvey, Erik Berglof, Chief Economist at the European Reconstruction and Development Bank, Dan Smith, Secretary General of International Alert and the new Chief Economist at DfID Stefan Dercon, as well as representatives from the WHO, ChristianAid, ActionAid, Trickle Up and many many more!
