Morning Seminar Session (Saturday)- James Stanfield
James helped to set up the EG West Centre, Newcastle University in 2002 which is dedicated to generating knowledge and understanding about how markets and self organising systems work in education. He has since been working with Professor James Tooley on private schools for the poor in developing countries and with Professor Sugata Mitra on minimally invasive education and self-organised learning environments. James’s other research interests include: the history of education without the state in different countries around the world; government intervention and its impact on fundamental freedoms in education and finally the concept of education as a spontaneous order. James lectures on the MA International Development and Education and supervises several Masters and PhD students.
